August 11, 1945: "Completion of initial construction of the road leading to Monumental lookout is reported by the local office of the state division of forestry. This lookout is on the summit between Colville and Rice and is at an elevation of 5500 feet. An observation cabin has been set up at the summit, with Dan Reeder of Rice employed as lookout. A two-way short wave radio is Reeder's only means of communication. His radio is hooked up with other lookout points in Stevens, Spokane and Pend Oreille counties and with the local fire warden's office in Colville." (The Colville Examiner)
June 6, 1952: "Monumental lookout southwest of Colville is to be manned in the near future." (The Statesman Examiner)

1996: Sold and moved to private property.
