July 16, 1959: "Harry C. Hall, summer lookout man at Deer Park, says a mountain goat has strayed to a nearby valley and is visible most any day. One recent day two black bears romped through the headwaters of McDonnell Creek on Blue Mountain near the lookout station. Summer visitors are frequent, making good use of the campgrounds with fireplaces." (Port Angeles Evening News)
