July 7, 1922: "Last week Deputy Supervisor E. J. Fenby of Tacoma was in Randle and Lewis, where he met most of the men who are to look out for fire this year in the Rainier National Forest and gave them detailed instructions as to their duties. The forest service keeps a force of about twenty men on the lookout for fires in the Rainier National Forest from July 1 until the fall rains make the spread of fires impossible. Every man's station is connected by telephone with the system that extends through the forest and the discovery of a fire by any of the lookouts or patrolmen is quickly followed by a notification to headquarters and the sending of necessary help to put out or control the fires.
The federal fire wardens in Lewis county include J. J. Modine, lookout, Twin Sisters." (The Chehalis Bee-Nugget)

April 16, 1926: "The expenditure if funds for the construction of lookout towers and telephone lines in the Rainier forest will inaugurate a new system of fire control, according to Mr. Fenby, which is expected to greatly reduce the fire loss on this section.
A tower will be constructed on the Twin Sisters peak above Cowlitz valley. This lookout tower is a combination ranger cabin with a glass enclosed cupola in the top containing an instrument known as the Osborne fire finder," (The Chehalis Bee-Nugget)
July 1, 1927: "Mr. and Mrs. Albert Westall left their happy home in Morton a week ago and Mrs. Westall has been with relatives during the week while Mr. Westall has attended the forestry training course at Lewis. They will make their abode at the Twin Sisters lookout station for the next two months after the trail is cleared so supplies can reach the station." (The Chehalis Bee-Nugget)
September 7, 1928: "Mrs.Albert Westall came down from Twin Sisters lookout station Tuesday, and Mr. Westall came Thursday, where they had spent a couple of months in the employ of the forest service. They went to Castle Rock Friday, where Mr. Westall will be employed as teacher in the high school." (The Chehalis Bee-Nugget)
