June 6, 1930: “Mrs. Casselman, who has lived here with sons, Harry and Ray, has gone to Spokane for the summer. Harry has accepted a position as lookout on Monumental peak and Ray, will work for the Forest Service.” (The Newport Miner)
September 26, 1935: “A scenic drive in the north part of the county is that from Sullivan lake up Harvey creek to the lookout station on Monumental mountain. This road will be extended to connect with the LeClerc creek-Calispell road and complete a crossing of the divide.” (The Newport Miner)
