1946: "A 14'x14' lookout cabin was erected on Clemans Mountain in Yakima County." (Annual Report of the Forestry Division)
June 25, 1957: "Christine Kaufman, the U.S. Forest Service lookout atop Mt. Clemans near Yakima, is in good condition at an Ellensburg hospital after accidentally shooting herself in the leg tonight." (The Oregon Statesman)
October 5, 1961: "The wedding of Miss Merlynn Quackenbush and Cecil Smith took place Monday, September 18 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Chase at the Rattlesnake Guard Station.
The bride has been lookout on Mt. Cleman for the past two years. The couple will spend their honeymoon there to complete her last month on duty." (Mt. Adams Sun)
1966-68: A replacement tower was erected. (6th Biennial Report of the Washington Department of National Resources)
April 27, 2007: The tower was toppled by the State DNR after two legs were severely damaged in a wind storm the previous December.
