June 19, 1925: "Mr. Winnington reports that a new lookout will be erected during the summer on Huckleberry mountain, three miles northwest of Carreywood." (White Bluffs Spokesman)
July 16, 1938: A large block of timberland administered by the Resettlement Administration transferred to the newly formed Kaniksu National Forest. Huckleberry Mountain lookout received two-way radio equipment. (The Colville Examiner)

May 20, 1939: “Lookouts were installed this week on Huckleberry mountain and Cliff Ridge as part of the Kaniksu forest ranger program to chick fires as they start. Phone lines are also rapidly being completed to give lookouts throughout the area quick access to fire fighting patrols in case an out break is seen.” (The Colville Examiner)
