1947: "A 75' steel tower, together with a 14'x18' cabin on the ground, was erected on Kosmos Hill. This tower fills one of the last remaining gaps in the protective districts in western Washington." (Annual Report of the Division of Forestry)
July 29, 1955: "A third lookout was added the past week by the State Forestry Service at Kosmos. Observer there is Mrs. V. Bridges who telephones direct to the filter center in Seattle any planes sighted in the Kosmos area." (Ground Observer Corps) (The Daily Chronicle)
1960-62: "The lookout construction work is performed by the Department's own carpentry crew. In the past two years, the crew completed nine lookouts at a cost averaging $8,000 apiece, one of which is located at Kosmos, Lewis County." (3rd Biennial Report Washington Department of Natural Resources)
