June 19, 1957: "Three fire lookouts are now in operation in this area reports E. Rodney Downen, district administrator for the State Department of Natural Resources.

May 21, 1963: "Monday was a class 4 day. Loggers left the woods early. The Mt. Pleasant lookout was not scheduled for regular manning yet but is manned today on a temporary basis." (Port Angeles Evening News)
December 28, 1963: "High winds Tuesday made this pile of splintered wreckage out of the State Department of Natural Resources fire lookout tower on Mt. Pleasant. January 23, 1968: "The sheriff's office was notified Monday of the burglary of a lookout tower at Mount Pleasant. There was no report on what was stolen." (Port Angeles Evening News)
January 31, 1968: "The State Department of Natural Resources is offering a reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of the person who caused $383.31 worth of damage to the Mt. Pleasant Lookout last week.
A spokesman for the department said the vandal or vandals broke a door lock, two shutters and a window to enter, stole small tools and the fire finder and fire finder ring and scattered papers about the lookout building.
In addition, they removed culvert markers along the road to the lookout.
The reward offered will be equal to one-half the fine assessed against the culprits when they are apprehended and convicted.
The spokesman said this is the second successive year for vandalism at the lookout. In addition, vandalism has been a continuing problem the past few years, including damage to road and fire prevention signs and other buildings." (Port Angeles Evening News)
